The ruins of the house that sits on the grounds of The Winery at Bull Run, known as Hillwood Mansion, have been witness to countless events that have shaped the course of the land that surrounds it. This simple summer farm became the site of the first major land battle of the Civil War before settling into being the private residence for many families and then emerging once again as the farm winery we know it as today.We invite you step back in time and come face to face with some of the men and women who helped shape our country, and this landscape in which we reside.
*View relics recovered and displayed by local relic hunters and learn the stories behind the finds.
*Our Museum will be open throughout the day – giving you a chance to see and explore the more than 200,000 artifacts we have on display.
*Tour Guides will be available at the Hillwood Ruins and Winter Cabin to share the history of both sites.
History Day at the Winery wouldn’t be complete without the chance to learn about the history of wine making and participate in an old-fashioned grape stomp – all accompanied by the sounds of LIVE music.
All events are open to the public. No advance ticket is required.
