CONTENT
The upcoming U.S. presidential election has been described as existentially important for both the USA and Europe. Domestically, the election's outcome will have a direct impact on the democratic fabric of the United States. In terms of foreign policy, support for Ukraine—and by extension, European security—will be directly influenced by the result. The current crisis in the Middle East - the Israel-Palestine war and its broader regional implications, will also play a pivotal role in shaping U.S. foreign policy. A Trump administration may revive his administration's past unilateral approach; Harris, on the other hand, could place greater emphasis on diplomacy and multilateral engagement to address the current escalating tensions. Beyond the Ukraine and Middle East wars, a potential Trump presidency is expected to take a more protectionist approach to economic matters, while Harris would likely remain committed to open trade with the EU. However, both candidates are expected to adopt firm stances on China. Additionally, issues such as climate policy and immigration reform could significantly impact EU-U.S. relations, as Europe's priorities in these areas may not align with those of the future administration.
