Amateur Radio Technician Class
When all other forms of communications fail, AMATEUR RADIO is there! Are you prepared?
Join us for the Amateur Radio Technician Class! This two-day in-person event will be held at the All-Risk Traning Center in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, USA. The class provides an introduction to the hobby of Amateur Radio and to prepares you to obtain your Technician Class License. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in the world of amateur radio. Come and join us for a fun and educational experience!
Things to Consider/ Bring for the Class
- Get a good night’s rest Friday night
- Consider bringing a cushion for the chair.
- Bring your book as a reference source.
- Lunch is a short break (as short as 30 minutes). Consider bringing your lunch.
- An open mind.
Things to Bring on Sunday for the Test:
- Identification - You will need a picture ID. A driver's license is best. School IDs for children are accepted.
- A laptop, tablet, or smartphone able to connect to WiFi. There are a few electrical outlets available for power, but it's best to be fully charged prior to the test. WARNING: YOU MAY NOT OPEN ANY OTHER APPLICATIONS OTHER THAN THE TESTING SITE. FAILURE TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE EXAM WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC EXPULSION AND LOSS OF TEST FEE. Such an action if taken by the Volunteer Examiners present is FINAL and absolutely not open for debate.
- Your 4-digit PIN provided when you registered for with Exam Tools.
- Scratch Paper - Is allowed, it must be blank except write your name on the sheet.
- Calculator - Simple, basic calculators that are unable to store text or formulas are allowed. A simple calculator will be available if you raise your hand during the test and request it. It will be collected once you complete your calculation.
Please bring $10 to cover the license testing fee. Exact change would be appreciated. If for some reason you do not pass your first attempt and if warranted and agreeable to you to attempt a second exam, an additional $7 fee is required. Please be prepared for this with exact change if it should occur.
Once you've passed the exam you will receive an email from the FCC for collecting their $35 Fee about 2-3 days after the exam. The email link is only valid for about a week, so a quick response is needed. YOU MUST USE EITHER A LAPTOP OR DESKTOP TO PAY THIS FEE. Phones or tablets are NOT to be used for this purpose. Roughly 1-3 days after this payment your Official Amateur Radio License will be emailed to you as a link to a pdf. YOU ONLY HAVE 30 DAYS TO ACCESS THIS LINK. Promptly access the pdf print it and save it on your computer and or thumbdrive vault. Note: Your FRN will be part of the license, but not UserID or Password.
After the exams are all completed, those who pass will be receiving an email that will have a pdf of your Certificate of Successful Completion of Exam (CSCE). This is NOT a license--yet.
