Banbury Amateur Radio Club with the help from the 1st Bodicote Scouts will be running an Amateur Radio Special Event Station at the Bodicote Scout HQ Building at Kingsfield in Bodicote on Sunday 14th September 2025. Times to be confirmed closer to the day.We hope to have a good display of information about the old Banbury Radio Station, located near Lower Grounds Farm from 1921-1960’s.
We will also have modern working radio transmitters/receivers and some older period display radio transmitter/receivers.
This is a community day, aimed at making the public aware of how important the station was in its day, during the 2nd World War, and in the latter years, up to the 1960’s.
The Scouts and visitors will be allowed to operate the equipment, under an operators guidance at their discretion, to try and make contacts, not just in this country but into Europe and who knows where??
The Scouts hope to learn about communications and have a go themselves, whilst putting on Teas and maybe a cake or two, which thirsty and hungry visitors can purchase to help with scout funds.
Free admission.
There may also be a chance to play with a Morse code training unit making noises!
