On Friday, January 30th from 7 to 9pm, come and enjoy the best (and worst) that Port Angeles has to offer in terms of comedy. Just kidding! Remember? This is ‘comedy night.’ Anyway, the point is that this open mic event welcomes everyone 21+ to watch and/or perform at Studio Bob. Impromptu jazz interludes provided by Port Angeles symphony cellist and bass player, Jesse Ahmann. No charge either unless you feel like sharing the wealth.The point is: it’s dark. Wintertime can be a dark and – let’s face it – depressing/boring time, so comedy is REALLY needed. Plus, everyone has something funny to share. Whether it’s talking about something silly that happened to you on the bus yesterday when that dude talked your ear off and you sat as close to the bus driver as possible without literally sitting on their lap, or some song that makes you dance like no one’s watching (or cares but if they were watching and caring they’d laugh a lot at your silly dance moves), one liners that really work wonders on the QFC cashier like when they ask you if you “Need any help out?’ and you say ‘Just mental health.’ You know, whatever floats (or sinks) your boat! She teaches drama and speech at Peninsula College and she’s been doing comedy longer than she cares to mention… lest people start guessing her age. “Not that getting old is a bad thing,” she says. In fact, she read that the more you embrace getting old then apparently you live longer. So, embrace away! Celebrate it!
