Pianist Amanda Lee is out to prove that what goes around, comes around,. And with her infectious passion for the music, and a creative energy that puts new life and illusion into the works of the masters of a century ago, you can't help but feel that she's on a worthy mission.
THE SWINGTET
Inspired by the sounds and traditions of the Swing era, the Amanda Lee Swingtet is known for their fun-loving camaraderie and playful dexterity and have showcased their music at numerous festivals. Led by pianist Amanda Lee who has been making her mark as a torchbearer of the swing and stride piano traditions of 1930/40s classic jazz regionally and internationally, they look forward to presenting this music with a three-horn frontline for the first time!
The night will feature the Amanda Lee Swingtet in two formations - piano trio in the first set and a brand new sextet in the second set. The group will play a unique selection of old school classics by Fats Waller, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Lester Young and others as well as original compositions.
