About this Event
“The collage series BODY SHOP is dedicated and inspired by my stepfather Joseph Caban, Jr., a renowned auto body expert. BODY SHOP celebrates the elbow grease and dedication of heavy collision mechanics, builders, and car culture."
"BODY SHOP" tells a story about cars, advertising, and American pop culture. Evo Love utilizes automotive manuals, color, and musical inspiration to explore themes of the historical archive, social justice, and inclusivity. The series reflects on Evo Love’s childhood spent in her stepfather’s body shop in the eighties and nineties. The exhibit is a multimedia installation that features 51 works on paper as well as listening devices to explore the influence of music in the collages.
