About this Event
Welcome to the Always Running Exhibition!
Luis J. Rodriguez’ Photography Exhibition Always Running, curated by Noé Montes is now available for viewing at our Youth & Community Center from now to October 10, 2025.
Luis Javier Rodriguez is a well-known multitalented artist and major cultural figure in Chicano literature, former LA Poet Laureate, and co-founder of Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural. This exhibition is traveling through the Eastside from Tia Chucha’s, and was produced on the 30th Anniversary of his book.
The Always Running exhibit includes covers of the three editions of the book, alongside 23 photos from Luis J. Rodriguez's personal collection, with rich black and white values and nostalgic colors, that document the San Gabriel Valley neighborhood, Lomas. The show is a beautiful portal into historic SGV neighborhoods of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, including portraits, neighborhood landscapes, and vintage street art that underscore the pride and resilience of our community.
On October 10th, the Always Running exhibit will culminate with a closing reception hosted at the InnerCity Struggle’s Youth and Community Center. Our closing reception will feature a night of poetry readings from local poets Briana Munoz and Angela Aguirre, Sonia Guiñansaca, and Margarita Gonzalez, and conclude with a powerful reading from Luis. The closing reception will include a night market and have light food and refreshments available for attendees.
