This introduction to the "Alternatives to Violence Program (AVP)" will be held at the Quaker Meeting House, 3415 W. Markham, in Little Rock. The program will begin at 6:30 and run until 8 p.m. There is no charge and the public is invited. The event is one of many happening during the annual Arkansas Peace Week.

AVP is a preventive, experiential program started in N. York state, aimed at learning to solve problems, disagreements and discord non-violently. It has been active doing workshops in central Arkansas for nine years, co-sponsored by the local Quaker Meeting and the AR Coalition for Peace & Justice (ACPJ). It began by working with inmates at the Tucker prison, and more recently with scholiers in After-School programs in Little Rock. John Coffin and Donnal Walter, both AVP facilitators, will direct the program on Sept. 16. Parking is available on the Valmar Street side of the Meeting House property.
