About this Event
On an Ice Cold Tuesday, December 4, 1906, in upstate New York, Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy, decided to create an organization for which there had been no predecessor. These seven Cornell brothers became the founders of the PHIRST African American fraternity in the United States, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
