Join us for an exciting and fun hands-on photography workshop "Along the Grand" at McDougall Cottage, led by photography instructor and photojournalist, Jason Gennings. This immersive experience kicks off with a brief lecture on composition techniques, setting the stage for a creative journey along the scenic Grand River.
Participants will explore downtown Galt, where the natural beauty of the river meets the urban landscape. From flowing water to striking architecture, you'll discover how these elements come together to create compelling images that tell a story.
Along the way, you can expect personalized guidance from Jason, who will be on hand to offer tips, answer questions, and inspire your photographic creativity. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just starting out, this is your chance to hone your skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

SLR or interchangeable-lens cameras are recommended, but all cameras and even phones are welcome - smaller tripods are allowed, but monopods can work too – whatever you choose to use, this workshop is designed to help you see the world through a new lens.
Ages 14+. Cost is $60 per person plus HST. Museum members receive a 10% discount.
Please note that the photography walk portion of this workshop may include stairs, hills and uneven terrain. Participants are advised to dress for the weather – comfortable walking shoes, water a hat and sunscreen are recommended.
In the event of inclement weather there will be a rain date October 5th. If we have to default to the rain date, an email will be sent to all participants at least one hour before the start time.
Jason’s Biography:
Jason Gennings has been photography instructor for over 20 years with classes at the Cambridge Idea Exchange, various cameras clubs and Conestoga College. The Kitchener-based photojournalist has worked for the Cambridge Reporter and freelanced for assorted publications. Jason had the opportunity to learn more about photo gear by spending 14 years with Henry’s cameras. He enjoys encouraging other photographers to search for their own vision, and as Lightworks Photography, Jason continues his efforts to capture moments in time.
