🎬 🌈 Moana Vā & The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Present: "Alofa" – A Human Rights Day Film Screening and Panel discussion 🌈🎬

Join us this Human Rights Day, 10 December, for a special FREE community screening of the powerful documentary Alofa, hosted by Moana Vā and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Aotearoa New Zealand.
About the Film: Alofa follows the moving story of Andre Afamasaga, a former Samoan pastor who came out as gay after 15 years of enduring conversion therapy. The documentary captures Andre’s journey to reconcile his faith, culture, and sexuality amidst conservative beliefs, featuring insights from mental health experts, family members, and pastors who offer a Pacific cultural perspective on LGBTQI+ inclusion. Alofa also features Fuimaono Dr Karl Pulotu Endeman as a key interviewee, who is also the Matua/Patron of Moana Va. This will be the first time that Fuimaono and his community watch Alofa together.
As a now-active human rights advocate, Andre shares his transformative story and introduces the Alofa Project, an inspiring initiative to foster LGBTQI+ acceptance within religious and Pacific communities.
The free community screening exclusively shown in the South Island will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session, offering an invaluable chance for attendees to explore and share perspectives on LGBTQI+ identities and the complex intersections with religious beliefs in New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Pacific communities.
