About this Event
THE NEW EVES:
The New Eves are a Brighton quartet who have been labeled as one of the country’s most spellbinding new bands. Expect a ritualistic mash-up of folksong, yelping punk and mesmeric drone.
With an unusual lineup of cello, violin, flute, guitar, bass and drums, The New Eves DIY nature and fierce spirit seem to be conjuring some kind of folkloric punk revival.
Going to a New Eves show is like being complicit in some kind of ritualistic opening. They tear up rock and roll at its roots, expressing a journey through seance, strings and electric guitar. They’re a work of art to witness and a sensational climax to be felt.
“equally invigorating and disquieting, extending an arm back to the sound of self-discovery blazed by The Raincoats and The Roches.“ The Guardian
DAISY RICKMAN:
"There is a Cornish folk revival afoot" and Daisy Rickman is at the centre of it (The Guardian). She is known for both her captivating music and striking paintings. Her second album Howl” reflects her deep connection to the landscapes of Cornwall, blending influences from folk pioneers like Anne Briggs and Nick Drake with the droning psychedelia of bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Her hypnotic low vocals and masterful instrumentation transport audiences to a sun-soaked realm of sound, where mystical and earthy melodies intertwine.
Daisy brings her band and psychedelic folk to Newquay!
“a gauze of fingerpicked guitar – sometimes delicate, sometimes yomping along at a druidic clip – glowing strings and Rickman’s hypnotically deep voice.” The Guardian
