Alma Guitar Duo at Fulwood Old Chapel
Come and join us for an evening of music for two guitars, featuring pieces from across the globe, including Spain, Italy, South America and many more.
Graduates of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Hannah and Jonnie will be
performing a concert of two halves, with refreshments served at the interval.
There are a limited number of tickets, so make sure you get yours early to guarantee a seat!
Bios
Hannah Woollacott
Hannah was awarded a Master of Music with Distinction in Instrumental Performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2018. She studied under the tuition of Mark Ashford and Mark Eden and also graduated with a First Class Honours degree from the same institution.
Originally from Devon, Hannah started learning the guitar with Des Miles and successfully participated in many music festivals and concerts across the county. She has performed in masterclasses with Xuefei Yang, Marcin Dylla and Lorenzo Micheli among many other distinguished guitarists and in 2015, she was a finalist in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Guitar Prize.
As a founding member of Alma (with fellow guitarist Jonnie Cumming) and the Silvana Duo, Hannah has performed in a variety of venues and festivals including Dillington Guitar Festival, Winchester Guitar Festival, Áureo Herrero Festival, Spain and at London Guitar Festival as part of the IGF Aspire Platform at Kings Place. She has performed with the National Youth Guitar Ensemble Fellowship and is a musician for Music in Hospitals and Care performing in different healthcare settings, including playing lullabies in neonatal wards.
Hannah is dedicated to making music accessible for everyone and performs concerts for children of all ages, most recently for Tiddlygigs in Taunton. As well as teaching in a variety of settings and mentoring in festivals such as Cardiff Guitar Festival and the World Youth Guitar Festival, Hannah conducts the North Devon Guitar Ensemble and has adjudicated at Leicester MusicFest. Hannah gained a place on the CBSO Learning and Participation Programme and was awarded the Postgraduate Pedagogy Prize from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2017, as well as the MMus Course Prize in 2018.
Jonnie Cumming
Jonnie Cumming is a Birmingham based Classical Guitarist and a founding member of Alma (with fellow guitarist Hannah Woollacott). He was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Mark Ashford and Mark Eden of the Vida Guitar Quartet and Eden-Stell Duo. Jonnie graduated in July 2015 with a First Class Honours degree in performance, and in July 2018 with Distinction in his Master of Music Degree specialising in Chamber music.
In both 2013 and 2014, Jonnie gained a bursary to attend West Dean International Guitar Festival. He then returned to the festival for the 2015 season, where he performed in the first 'Young Artist Platform' concert of the festival.
Jonnie has performed in numerous solo and chamber masterclasses with guitarists such as Xuefei Yang, Gary Ryan, Johannes Möller, Lorenzo Michelli, Marek Pasieczny, Chris Stell and the Grammy award winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. In 2014 and 2015, he was a finalist in the Birmingham Conservatoire Guitar prize judged by Helen Sanderson and Chris Stell respectively.
As part of Alma, Jonnie has performed in the London Guitar Festival in 2017 as part of IGF’s Aspire Platform and was a finalist in the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Prize in 2018. He has also performed with Alma in the Aureo HerreroCiclo de Conciertos festival in El Barraco (Ávila), Spain and the Dillington Guitar Festival in 2021. Jonnie also enjoys performing as a soloist and with his Guitar and Double Bass duo, most notably for the Dublin Philharmonic Society recital series in 2019.
Jonnie is passionate about music education and inspiring young musicians. Based in Birmingham, he is currently teaching around the West Midlands and in Warwickshire.
Jonnie plays a guitar made by Oxfordshire luthier Oren Myers.
