ALLMemphis Structured Literacy Intervention Comprehensive Education (SLICE)

We are excited to extend trainings to those in the learning community eager to gain deeper insight of how to support foundational literacy through the Science of Reading. Our first training will be held December 19th - 23rd from 9a-5p each day. This 5-day, 40-hour comprehensive overview covers foundational literacy concepts to either refresh or jumpstart your learning. This course covers the following concepts:

• Understanding the Science of Reading and how the brain works while reading
• How implementing Structured Literacy through Orton-Gillingham supports struggling readers
• The Simple View of Reading
• Overview of how to teach the 5 components of Reading as identified by the National Reading Panel:

1. Phonemic Awareness
2. Phonics
3. Fluency
4. Vocabulary
5. Comprehension
