About this Event
Want to flex your power-knowledge? Show off your discourse? Or ask questions, basic or advanced, about the theories of Michel Foucault? Join the conversation!
Theory Coffee Hours is a new format we are trying out, where we can provide robust discussions of key concepts in a relaxed atmosphere, think the seriousness of your professor's office hourse meeting the casuality of radio shows.
The host, IDCtheory's cofounder Ahmed Diaa Dardir (PhD, Columbia University), will start off the conversation by providing context for Foucault's intellectual and political world, and by introducing some key Foucauldian concepts, followed by the discussion. Feel free to share insights, ask questions, or listen.
Want to tune in early to ask specific questions? Let us know and we will be there. Cannot make it on time? Feel free to join late and we will do our best to acommodate. The event is scheduled to take place over two hours but we are happy to stay a bit longer if need be.
Ahmed Dardir holds a PhD from the (very Foucauldian) department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies (MESAAS) at Columbia University . He believes himself to be one of the very few people who have actually read Foucault closely, and thinks that many of the self-proclaimed Foucauldians do in fact confuse late and early Foucault (feel free to challenge him, after all what are theories if not "tool boxes", wink wink).
