Join us this Sunday as we honor church members and other loved ones who have died. You are invited to bring photographs of loved ones who have died in the past year to be placed in an ofrenda during worship. Rev. Sari Brown, an ordained minister in the UMC and singer/songwriter, will deliver the message during the 10:30 worship service.Following the service, we will have a potluck fellowship meal in the Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center & Gallery on the 1st floor.
After eating, Rev. Sari Brown will facilitate an interactive grief ritual incorporating music, meditation, creative expression, and sharing to expand our understanding of grace, tend our individual and collective grief, and move toward healing, solidarity, and resilience. This multigenerational event will provide ways for all ages to participate.
NOTE: We invite all attendees to bring an object or objects that represent what they are grieving, which may include loved ones, places, situations, life transitions, and more. Photographs from the ofrenda used in the worship service will be transferred to the gallery to be part of the grief ritual as well.
Because this is a First Sunday Fellowship day, the nursery will be open and staffed during the worship service. Worship will include communion and Central's tradition of incorporating the names of those who have died into memorial quilts.
