Drawing comparisons from Patsy Cline to a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack, her sound echoes the spirit of early 60’s California—sun-soaked, sharp-dressed in mod tones, and just rebellious enough to drift left of the traditional country dial.
A fast-rising name in the underground Americana scene, Bitter has been turning heads with a voice and vision that feel timeless yet distinctive, by capturing the attention of music fans and critics alike. Her debut album Old School dropped in 2024 and wasted no time making noise—breaking into the Top 25 Americana Album Radio Chart, spending four weeks at No. 1 on the Alt. Country Specialty Chart, and earning eight award nominations across outlets like Saving Country Music and the San Diego Music Awards. Of those, she took home three San Diego Music Awards, including Song of the Year (2024 & 2025) and Best Country Album (2025). The album was also named a finalist for Album of the Year by Saving Country Music alongside Sierra Ferrell, Red Clay Strays, and Billy Strings, and her live performance was recently regarded as "one of the biggest takeaways" from Austin's SXSW.
But the real story is on the road. After over 120 shows nationwide in 2024, Kimmi and her band The Westside Twang have been earning their stripes the old-fashioned way—night after night, town after town. Guitarist Willis Farnsworth’s signature twangy tone has not only built him a cult following but has also defined the band's live sound, locked in tight by bassist Ben Neal and drummer Justin DeLa Vega.
If Americana had a mixtape for the moment, Kimmi’s on it. She was named one of AmericanaFest’s standout artists, Old School landed on Whiskey Riff’s Top Debut Albums list, and Billboard spotlighted her among their “8 Must-Hear New Country Songs.” With a second album in the works, and no signs of slowing down, one thing’s clear: Kimmi Bitter is just getting warmed up.
