About this Event
This 10 week course introduces three types of monoprinting (direct, subtraction and object methods), and then relief and intaglio techniques using simple and recycled materials such as lino, card and plastic. We work with water based, non toxic inks, various papers and collage techniques. We will use a printing press, but many of the techniques need no specialist equipment so you can continue working with them after the course.
Suitable for all levels including beginners, no experience or art training is needed. Returning students or others familiar with the techniques are welcome, and may work on their own projects or try more advanced techniques with guidance and advice from the tutor as needed.
All materials are provided. Students are invited to bring their own images and ideas but the tutor will also provide objects and images to inspire you. Please wear old clothes as printing can be messy.
Student comment about the course: 'I really enjoyed the variety of printmaking techniques covered in the course, with each lesson offering something new to learn and explore. The classes were a lot of fun and very relaxed as Rachel supported and encouraged us to experiment and be creative with what we learned. She also helped us to evaluate our work and gave suggestions and ideas about how to improve or what we could do differently. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole course and have learned new techniques that I will continue to explore at home. Thank you for an excellent course!'
