Why Visit Donna Nook in November?
🦭The Grey Seal Spectacle:
Mid-November is PEAK pupping season! Expect to see up to 1,500 adorable seal pups with their fluffy white coats alongside around 3,000 adult seals.
Watch the drama unfold as massive bull seals battle for dominance and establish their territories - these testosterone-fueled fights are truly spectacular! You’ll see mothers nursing their pups just metres away, separated only by a low fence. Britain is home to 40% of the world’s grey seal population, making this an internationally important site.
👀 Outstanding Birdwatching:
Donna Nook isn’t just about seals! With over 250 bird species recorded, November offers exceptional coastal birding:
Geese - Brent & Pink-footed
Waders - Redshank, Curlew, Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Knot, Turnstone,
Raptors - Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Merlin, Peregrine, Short-eared Owl
Winter specialties - Snow Bunting, Lapland Bunting (if we’re lucky!)
Thrushes - Fieldfare and Redwing feeding on sea-buckthorn berries
The diverse habitats of mudflats, saltmarsh, sand dunes and saline lagoons support an amazing variety of birds!

Important Notes:
❌ No dogs allowed during seal pupping season ❌ Stay within viewing areas (active RAF range) ❌ Don’t touch the seals - they bite and mothers may abandon pups ✅ Volunteer wardens in red coats available to help ✅ Portaloos at car park ✅ Fresh veg stall often available
