The public is invited to join the celebration of the City of Algoma, WI becoming an official Ice Age Trail Community!The celebration takes place on August 25, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Algoma Boat Club.
What is planned:
• The celebration will include a ribbon cutting organized by the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce and a brief introductory ceremony by the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
• Food will include Steel Belly BBQ food truck, cake, and an ice cream treat! Beverages will be available for purchase inside the Algoma Boat Club.
• A guided hike will take place on the newly marked blazed trail to the Algoma Visitor Center.
• Talk Trail with Ice Age Trail Alliance and Lakeshore Chapter members, volunteers, and staff.
• You may get to meet Monty the Woolly Mammoth!
Special opportunity: Meet thru-hiker and author Barney 'Scout' Mann. Barney started his thousand-mile journey on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail at the eastern terminus in Sturgeon Bay and is headed west to St. Croix Falls.
