Take steps to recover from mental health issues, life circumstances, or addictions by coming out to a recovery walk!
About this Event

Join us for our weekly Wednesday recovery walk, starting near Lawrence Subway Station through the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens, then onto Blythwood Park, Sherwood Park, up until Sunnybrook hospital, and back!

This walk follows a stream and in my opinion is quite relaxing! A segment of this trail (Sherwood Park) is through an off-leash dog park. There are usually very few dogs in this park, and I personally like dogs, but being okay with dogs is probably a pre-condition for attending! There are some steps on this walk.

Transit & Parking: The meeting point is just south of Lawrence Station, on Yonge at the entrance of Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens. There should be free parking in the residential neighborhood near the entrance.

Cost: As usual, cost is $3 cash or by e-transfer to [email protected] but if circumstances don't allow you to pay, that's alright, all welcome even if they can't pay

What to Bring: Water and comfortable shoes

About the Group

------------------------

For anyone recovering from a tough circumstance, addiction, or mental health condition, we are starting "Recovery Walks," a way to increase mental, physical, and relational health.

  • Improve mental health through a change in scenery by getting out of the house and finding commonality around shared issues in a supportive environment
  • Improve physical health by getting fresh air and a light walk
  • Improve relational health by connecting with others from the community who also want to connect!

Share as much or as little of your personal story as you’d like and also connect around fun solutions to problems. Chat about the sounds of the birds and the scenery!

We would prefer participants focus on recovery, health, and joy rather than dating, to aid in keeping things simple for the purposes of a pleasant and affiliative recovery group!

Cost: To pay for the meetup.com fees and fund new initiatives, the cost to attend is $3, paid in person or by e-transfer to [email protected].

We don’t want to turn away anyone who could benefit, so if you can’t pay because of your circumstances, no guilt at all, come anyway.
