About this Event

Born and raised in Concord, NC, Alexa Jenson started writing songs at the age of fourteen, making her way to local venues by the age of sixteen. After playing three years of open mics and bar gigs, in 2018, she succeeded in selling out The Evening Muse, as she released her self-titled debut EP. Throwing a nod to her influences, such as Molly Rankin of Alvvays, Carole King, Billy Joel, and ABBA, Jenson doesn’t quite fit into any specific musical mold and nor does she want to.

From the vulnerable lyrics like “I love you just the same when you tear apart my brain” to the empowering “No you won’t fuck with my mental health / You’re only doing this to yourself,” Alexa’s songs cover a wide variety of raw emotions taken from her own personal experiences. With a repertoire of old classics and new beginnings, she brings the feelings cradled in her bedroom to center-stage, with a newfound attitude and hopes that you might feel them too. Or not. Either way, she doesn’t really care what you think.

With folksy roots, enveloped by droning soundscapes, Low Groves tiptoes the lines of traditional folk and indie rock while exploring themes of longing and loss.

The project was formed out of necessity. After losing his last living grandparent and being laid off from his day job with the Chicago White Sox in 2020, he retreated to his vacant grandparents’ house in Chicago to gather belongings and determine his next move. He emerged with the 10 songs that would comprise his debut album: Drifter.
After a break from music, he arrived in Charlotte, NC where he would play these songs around the local music scene where “Eliana”, has become a favorite.

2023 has been a busy year for him as he's opened for Adam Melchor during his Here Goes Nothing! Tour, is slated to perform at Charlotte SHOUT! Festival, and released his first song ("Baltimore") since his debut album.

FLKL is a four piece RVA-based rock band. With an eclectic mash up of punk, grunge, surf, and folk influences, their sound includes heavy riffs, four part vocal harmonies, and an electric banjo. The group features Brittany Horkan on drums, Delilah Ruth Harris on bass, Alex Harris on guitar, and Mike Ferster on electric banjo.

Before FLKL became what it is today, they were just middle school friends in Virginia who started making music together. In the years since, FLKL released their first album ‘Songs for your Dogs’ in January 2020. After the band moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2021, they hit the ground running with local shows, an east coast tour in 2022, and the release of their second album, ‘Fistful’ in 2023.
