Discover how cutting-edge technology is bringing centuries-old instruments back to life. Composer and music-software creator Alex Davis will showcase his innovative work developing virtual instruments that let you explore rare harpsichords, pianos, and other historical treasures—right from your own computer.

Based in Black Mountain, North Carolina, Davis is the founder of Tempest Instruments, a platform dedicated to preserving and sharing the voices of historically significant instruments through meticulously crafted digital recreations. Blending deep technical expertise with a passion for musical heritage, he has sampled and revived instruments from across the centuries while building tools used by today’s media composers.

With experience writing music for film, video games, animation, live performance, and commercial work, Davis brings a storyteller’s touch to this fascinating look at where musical history meets modern creativity.

Join us for an engaging presentation that bridges craft, technology, and the timeless beauty of sound.

This season of the Sigal Music Museum Distinguished Lecture Series is made possible by the generous sponsorship of The Woodlands at Furman.
