Join us at Purple Fern Studio for an art exhibit featuring the work of local artist, Alex Beck.
This exhibit will showcases a range of Alex's works, including oil & gouache paintings. Alex states that his work lives somewhere between realism and imagination—a space he sometimes calls gestural realism. His paintings are sculpted, painterly interpretations of the world around him. Drawn to sentimentality, old photographs, family albums, forgotten travel logs, and the moods they carry are often collaged together in his mind and then transformed onto his canvas.
About the Artist: Alex Beck earned his BFA in Illustration from the Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. After beginning his career at Moonbot Studios, an animation studio in Louisiana, he went on to complete his MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he later taught. Beck has also shared his expertise as an instructor at The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia.
