In celebration of Alethia Tanner Park, and in honor of the remarkable legacy of the park’s namesake, the NoMa BID is hosting a new event: Alethia Tanner Day! The community at large voted to name NoMa’s beautiful 2.5-acre park after Alethia Tanner, a formerly enslaved woman who purchased her freedom and the freedom of dozens of others.
Join us on Saturday, July 23 from 11 AM-3 PM at Alethia Tanner Park for a celebration of exciting activations honoring the park’s namesake, including art, music, and a pop-up market curated by Neighbors DC, which features a lineup of Black female makers and vendors.
Visit our website to learn more. Additional surprises and event details will be announced closer to the event – stay tuned for more information! https://bit.ly/3ts0EuD
