Ales & Wild Tails is back! Join us at the Ale and The Witch in downtown St Petersburg on Wed Nov 13 at 6pm to learn about the Florida Rooftop Nesting Program. We hope to see you there. Tell a friend! The presenter:
Kara Cook is the Tampa area Rooftop Biologist for Audubon Florida. She monitors rooftop nesting seabirds and shorebirds across five counties in Florida: Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota. As the Rooftop Biologist for this region, she works primarily with Least Terns nesting in colonies on rooftops as well as American Oystercatchers and Black Skimmers. She has Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife from the University of Missouri and a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Tourism from the University of South Florida.
Program description:
Imperiled species of shorebirds and seabirds nest on several gravel rooftops right here in Pinellas County. The Audubon Florida Rooftop Nesting program is vital to preserving populations of shorebirds and seabirds that have had to find alternative habitats to successfully raise their young. Kara will share this conservation effort, the community science involved, and multiple ways volunteers can get involved to help our imperiled rooftop nesting birds.
As always, this is a FREE event. Stay after and enjoy the weekly bluegrass jam and support our partner, The Ale and The Witch. See you there!
