AGM Weekend
SCARBOROUGH
Feb 27 - 1 March 2026
You Can't Miss This AGM
We have managed to book local Trawler Skipper and author Fred Normandale , Yellow oilskins, above, to speak to us following the AGM.
Fred, who grew up in the old town is descended from a long line of North Sea fishermen, he is renowned for his wit and wisdom and his long fight for the benefit of the British Fishing Industry.
His five well received books tell the story of the port of Scarborough, the history of fishing and the characters that he has known and worked with.
Dinner menus will be circulated shortly so if you are coming let us know asap so you can select the dishes your choice

Accomodation
There is plenty of affordable accommodation in Scarborough all within reasonable walking distance of the Friday night and Saturday venues.
The Premier Inn is on the site of the old Scarborough School Of Art. The Bike and Boot (formerly The Mount Hotel) is cheap and very cheerful, and the Travelodge is just around the corner opposite the Grand Hotel but those looking for Grandeur should consider The Palm Court Hotel, 3 stars.
Background
It is 130 years since Albert Strange and his fellow artists founded the Scarborough Sailing Club as it was first known and 47 years ago the Albert Strange Association was formed at the Scarborough Yacht Club.
Programme
The Friday night rendezvous is still to be decided upon but Scarborough members continue to test out the possible hostelries.
Saturday morning can be spent exploring the town, visiting Tim Knight's studio and the Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre.
On Saturday afternoon SYC have invited us to hold our AGM in their clubhouse. It will be followed by a talk by Fred Normandale.
Saturday evening, dinner at the Yacht club, which also has a fine bar!
Sunday morning everyone will be welcome at Albert Towers for coffee, cake and a chance to view watercolours by Strange and his contemporaries before heading home.
We are looking forward to a bumper weekend and a lively meeting in a storm lashed lighthouse. In
