BIO:
South African Music Award (SAMA) winning and nominated singer-songwriter Albert Frost hails from Cape Town, South Africa. He is
renowned for his exceptional guitar skills and soulful vocals, playing rock folk blues - blending delta blues, psychedelic rock, and Afro rhythms in his performances, reflecting a deep connection to his roots. A powerhouse of emotional and energetic artistry, Frost captivates audiences with his mastery of various acoustic and electric guitars and has been a Fender endorsee for 25 years. Revered as the “South African Hendrix” and celebrated by Rolling Stone Magazine as the “Dark Prince of South African blues,” he mesmerizes listeners with his incredible talent.
Frost’s second independent album, The Wake Up, won Best Rock Album at the 2017 SAMA Awards. His latest album, Sacred Sound, was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2022 SAMA Awards, produced by Theo Crous of the Springbok Nude Girls.
His ability to captivate with his unique sound has garnered a dedicated global fan base, leading to international tours with Simple Minds, and R.E.M. and supporting acclaimed bands The Rolling Stones and TEXAS.
Frost’s career has been defined by collaborations with a wide range of acclaimed artists, including Ali Farka Touré, Finley Quaye, Karen Zoid, Henry Ate, Arno Carstens, Neil Sandilands, Tubatsi Mpho Moloi, Robin Auld and Jake Gunn.
The 2017 Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees saw Frost nominated for a Kanna Award and a kykNET-Fiëstas 2018 for Best Music Production for his shows with Loki Rothman and Zolani Mahola.
Frost recently returned from the Pfingst Rock blues festival in Berlin,
where he celebrated 30 years in the music industry. Fans can expect a performance showcasing his soul-stirring vocals and the deeply emotional sound that has established him as a standout contemporary musician and phenomenal guitarist.
