We’re happy to announce that our annual Contrafest event will return with music by The Gaslight Tinkers (Peter Siegel, Garrett Sawyer, Clara Stickney, Eliezer Martinez) along with star caller Liz Nelson!Contrafest features three dances over two days! See below for 2025 admissions. We will once again be offering discounted wristbands for admission to all three sessions. All dances are held at the Albany Elks Lodge, located at 25 S Allen St, Albany, NY. Clean, soft-soled shoes are recommended to protect the dance floor. All dances are taught, and no partner is necessary!
As always, our Friday dance starts with a beginner’s lesson starting at 7:45pm, with the dance following from 8pm to 11pm.
Saturday features two dance sessions- a special afternoon dance from 2pm - 5pm, and an evening session with waltzing from 7:30pm - 8pm followed by contras from 8pm - 11pm.
Contrafest 2025 sliding scale admission:
Friday Evening Lesson and Contra Dance 7:45 - 11pm: $15-$25
Saturday Afternoon Contras: $14-$25
Saturday Evening Waltzes (7:30pm to 8pm) AND Contra Dance (8pm to 11pm): $15-$25
Full-Festival (All 3 sessions): $45 -$55
Calling will use Larks and Robins to denote dance roles.
