Guest Speaker

Josiah Jones

Josiah was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and raised in Westchester. He earned his BA in Political Science from SUNY Albany in 1998 before relocating to New Orleans to pursue a JD at Loyola Law School. While there, he interned for a U.S. District Court Judge and competed in national moot court competitions. After graduating, Josiah returned to New York, passed the Bar in 2003, and began practicing criminal defense and civil litigation.

Following a year-long journey across the U.S. and Southeast Asia, he returned to the Capital District and joined the Albany Police Department, where he has proudly served for the past 20 years. In addition to being a member of the Emergency Services (SWAT) Team, he was honored with the Medal of Valor and currently oversees the Criminal Investigations Unit, handling serious violent and property crimes, including homicides.

Outside of work, Josiah is an active member of Grace Fellowship where he serves on the hospitality team and participates in international mission trips, also hosting a weekly men’s Bible study at his home. His faith in Christ is central to his life, both on and off duty, guiding him in his work and commitment to making a meaningful impact on the community he serves.
