Introduction:
Welcome to the Alaska Expedition! This incredible journey will take us over 8,000 miles on the North American portion of the Pan American Highway, all the way to Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic Ocean on the North Slope of Alaska.
Expectations:
We have allocated approximately 3 weeks for this expedition, and our launch window will begin on June 1, 2024, from Mesa, AZ. Our decision for a launch window is due to our extensive experience and over 10 years of living in AK, which has made us familiar with the ever-changing weather conditions. By having a launch window, we can optimize our three weeks and increase our odds of a successful expedition..
This Alaska Expedition will be truly epic, but it will also require careful planning and commitment. We are seeking 4-8 rigs to join us, with each rig having a minimum of a driver and a navigator/communications person. It is essential that participants have confidence in their driving abilities and the reliability of their rigs. Please note that this will be a self-supported expedition, meaning you will be responsible for your own expenses and supplies.
We understand that not everyone can step away from their everyday lives for three weeks, let alone embark on a journey to one of the most remote areas in the world. However, we are specifically looking for individuals who can make a commitment since you will play a key role in the planning, logistics, safety, and support of all participants.
Here is the timeline leading up to the expedition:
- September 2023: Save the Date Notification
- November 2023: Gather all interested parties for a Q&A and go over the logistics.
- January 2024: Confirmation and commitment from interested rigs
- February to May 2024: Engage in local runs to ensure our gear and convoy skills are honed. Additionally, we will cover basic backcountry first aid and vehicle maintenance.
