Elisabeth Klinck is een violist, componist en performer uit Brussel. Vanuit haar achtergrond in de klassieke muziek slaat ze een brug naar de wereld van de experimentele elektroakoestische muziek. Haar debuutalbum Picture a Frame kwam in 2013 uit op het Zwitserse label Hallow Ground (ook bekend van Maria W. Horn en FujiIIIIIIIIIIta). Deze zomer verscheen haar tweede release: Chronotopia. Hierop gaat Klinck een diepere dialoog met zichzelf aan. Ze kiest voor een meer op songs gerichte benadering en omarmt haar eigen stem als een essentieel tegengewicht voor haar viool. We ontdekken een breekbare emotionele klankwereld met zachte aangehouden tonen, hypnotiserende patronen, field recordings en improvisatie.

Elisabeth Klinck is a violinist, composer and performer based in Brussels. Drawing on her background in classical music, she bridges the gap between classical music and the world of experimental electroacoustic music. Her debut album Picture a Frame was released in 2013 on the Swiss label Hallow Ground (also known for Maria W. Horn and FujiIIIIIIIIIIta). This summer saw the release of her second album, Chronotopia. On this album, Klinck engages in a deeper dialogue with herself. She chooses for a more song-oriented approach and embraces her own voice as an essential counterweight to her violin. Here one can discover a fragile emotional soundscape with soft sustained tones, hypnotic patterns, field recordings and improvisation.

In de voorbije decennia werkte de Amerikaanse gitarist Alan Licht samen met zowat de hele experimentele muziekwereld, van free jazz legendes (Rashied Ali, Derek Bailey) en elektronica-tovenaars (Fennesz, Jim O'Rourke) tot turntable-grootheden (DJ Spooky, Christian Marclay) en Downtown New York-veteranen (John Zorn, Rhys Chatham, Lee Ranaldo van Sonic Youth). Verder is Licht ook curator en schrijver, o.a. voor The Wire Magazine en New York Sun. Zijn boek Sound Art: Beyond Music, Between Media is een standaardwerk over geluidskunst en was de inspiratie voor de langlopende reeks ‘Beyond Music’ in STUK. In 2024 bracht Licht zijn nieuwste album Havens uit, een dubbel LP met langgerekte gitaarimprovisaties waarin klassieke fingerpicking en abstracte klanktapijten elkaar afwisselen. Een hypnotische trip die hij in STUK live zal brengen.

Over the past two decades, guitarist Alan Licht has worked with a veritable who's who of the experimental world, from free jazz legends (Rashied Ali, Derek Bailey) and electronic wizards (Fennesz, Jim O'Rourke) to turntable masters (DJ Spooky, Christian Marclay) and veteran Downtown New York composers (John Zorn, Rhys Chatham, Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth). Licht is also a curator and writer, including for The Wire Magazine and New York Sun. His book Sound Art: Beyond Music, Between Media is a standard work on sound art and was the inspiration for STUK's long-running “Beyond Music” series. In 2024, Licht released his latest album Havens, a double LP of elongated guitar improvisations in which classical fingerpicking and abstract soundscapes alternate. A hypnotic trip that he will perform live in STUK.
