Alabama Genealogical Society Spring Seminar

Come join us for the Alabama Genealogical Society's seminar on April 5, 2025, featuring Diana Elder and luncheon speaker Terrie Morrow. Doors open at 8:30 and the meeting takes place from 9am to 4pm central time.

Diana Elder authored Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist's Guide, and hosts the Research Like a Pro podcast.

Terrie Morrow is a Birmingham resident who was chosen to be a guest on the PBS program Finding Your Roots.

Four Presentations by Diana Elder

  • Create a Research Objective & Analyze Your Sources
  • Learn About the Location, Geography & History of Your Ancestor

  • Keep a Research Log & Write Conclusions

Whether you're a seasoned genealogy pro or just starting your family history journey, this seminar is perfect for all levels of experience. Morning refreshments and lunch are provided for in-person attendees at the Alabama Department of Archives in Montgomery. Doors open for registration and refreshments at 8:30am CST and events begin at 9:00am CST.

Online Recording

The ADAH will professionally record the seminar and make it available both as a live stream on YouTube and as a recording for thirty days, allowing you to access it at your convenience. This recording will be available to both in-person and virtual attendees.

At lunch, we will have the option to use the "Relatives Around Me" feature on the FamilySearch app to discover and connect with relatives at the seminar by comparing our family trees. Before the seminar, visit https://www.familysearch.org/en/mobile-apps to find out how to download the app. You must have at least three generations entered in your Family Search tree to connect with others.
