On November 22nd, Trans Joy Akron is hosting a Safety & Connection Workshop, developed in response to community feedback from Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV). This workshop focuses on life-saving skills and knowledge, offering valuable resources such as:- Community Support & Planning by TransOhio
- Legislation information & guidance for trans advocacy from Trans Allies of Ohio
- Know Your Rights presentation from The Freedom BLOC
- First Aid/CPR training from United Black Firefighters of Akron
- Self-defense techniques from Emmett Drugan
- Learn how to change a tire & replace a taillight from Julie Boylen
- Information from Summit County Jobs & Family Services
- Harm reduction supplies from the Summit County Health Department
We will have scheduled presentations, but you’re welcome to come and go as you please and take what you need. All other resources will be available throughout the event, so feel free to drop by anytime between 5 PM and 8 PM. This event is free and open to all identities and ages. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
