RiverRun will be conducting another AKC Rally Handler’s Seminar on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 11am to 3pm. This seminar is open to anyone who has who has begun taking classes in Rally or is currently competing at any level of AKC Rally.
We cover the following plus more.
• Understanding the signs and how points are lost.
• How judges score differently for the same errors.
• Feeling confident in the ring and building confidence in your
dog
• What muscle memory is and why it’s important for you and
your dog.
• How to focus on your dog while remembering the course and
signs
• Key cues your dog needs to know.
• When to support your dog in the ring and how do much
support can add negative pressure to your dog.
• Work on any exercises that you find difficult to perform.
• Plus, whatever you can come up with that needs to be addressed.
The seminar will be taught by Paula Thomason, she has earned over 20 Rally Championship Titles with 5 different breeds. All but one Championship title was earned in a minimum of 20 triple events. Paula and her dogs have also earned over 200 High In Trial titles. In 2021 Paula had 4 dogs place in the top 10 (actually top 6) all breed AKC TOP DOGS IN RALLY including:
Ash - # 1 GSD #3 herding dog, #3 all-breed
Levi - #1 Russell Terrier #1 Terrier and #4 all-breed
Spot #1 Border Collie # 4 Herding Dog and #5 all-breed
Patch #1 Mini Am. Shep. #5 Herding dog and #6 all-breed.
Paula’s students also place in the ribbons with many earning Rally Championships along the way.
