《Aivee Hsu Quintet》 "featuring Gisele Litalien"
Taipei-born vocalist/guitarist Aivee Hsu leads a compact jazz & bossa nova quintet. With a
warm, velvety tone and conversational phrasing, she moves between English, Portuguese, and
Mandarin, inviting listeners into songs that breathe with swing, samba, and luminous ballads.
International readiness includes performances across Asia and collaborations with Brazilian musicians. Recent recognition: Global Music Awards (2024) and two wins at the 2025 LIT
Music Awards; finalist/nominee placements at ICMA and HIMA. The festival set “But
Beautiful: A Cross-Oceans Evening” reimagines standards and Jobim works alongside
originals such as “Dream of You” and “Bellflower,” traveling light while keeping the submitted
line-up consistent.
On a seaside afternoon, a gentle breeze caresses
the shore as Aivee Hsu takes her award-winning
vocal jazz album But Beautiful as a brush,
delicately sketching “But Beautiful” and “Garota
de Ipanema.” Piano, seven-string guitar, and
saxophone weave soft melodies, the double bass pulses in tranquil rhythm, and jazz drums gently
tap the heartbeat; she softly recounts the album’s original inspiration and recording anecdotes,
guiding listeners with improvisational whispers,
immersing them in bossa nova’s tender imagery
within its languid flow.
