Join us for the second meeting of our AIES book club, where we will discuss the Afrofuturist science fiction novel Noor by Nnedi Okorafor.
About this Event

In a futuristic Nigeria, young, disabled Igbo woman Anwuli Okwudili goes by the codename AO (Artificial Organism). Advanced technological developments have allowed her to upgrade unformed and weakened parts of her body with cybernetics prosthetics, manufactured by the megacorporation Ultimate Corp. After being attacked in a marketplace, AO fights back and kills several men. Wanted for M**der, she flees the capital city of Abuja. Once on the run, meets a Fulani herdsman named Dangote Nuhu Adamu (DNA), and their race against time across the deserts of Northern Nigeria begins.

From Nebula and Hugo award-winning author and Africanfuturist luminary Nnedi Okorafor comes a science fiction novel of thoughtful rumination on biotechnology, destiny, and humanity, offering a unique interpretation of the cyberpunk genre.
