Presentation Description: Join us for a dive into the AIA Materials Pledge. Learn about details of the pledge, why it matters, as well as why and how to implement pledge efforts in your own firm. This session will inform attendees of the impacts that the building and construction industry has on the five impact categories of the pledge: human health, social health and equity, ecosystem health, climate health and circular economy, through material selections. We will cover an overview of ways to achieve the five impact categories. The presentation will also identify the actions that designers can take to improve their practice through becoming familiar with material transparency and making wiser materials selections along with tools and resources that will aid in making more informed choices.
