AIA Indianapolis March Program -
This program will focus on the research and writing done for Volume 1 of preservation consultant and architectural historian Dr. James Glass’ book, Architecture in Indianapolis, covering 1820-1900. Dr. Glass will illustrate the profusion of Italianate style commercial buildings and residences that architects and builders constructed in the city.
He will also show how simultaneously the French Second Empire style found favor in impressive and often extravagant commercial and public buildings and residences. The origins of both styles in European architecture and American pattern books will also be discussed and illustrated. Copies of Dr. Glass' book will be available both before and after the presentation.
Thanks to Dr. James Glass for this presentation. Program has been approved for 1.0 AIA LU.
This program is hosted by AIA Indianapolis Sponsor, Stenz. The program will take place in North Mass District at 1351 Roosevelt Ave which is the red brick building just west of the historic Box Factory building. Signage will direct you to the suite where the program will take place.
