About this Event
AI’s impact has perhaps been most felt and also most contested in the creative industries. We continue to watch lawsuits and deals on the global stage that are set to determine a landscape of new business models, practices, and copyright and cultural policies.
In this session, we look at how AI companies in the creative industries are designing products and scoping the future of their businesses, how artists are responding and seeking protections, how legal and policy thinking is developing in Australia, and how culture contributes an important dimension to debates of AI sovereignty.
This talk will be of interest to creative workers, researchers, and educators, as well as to technologists and AI business leaders engaging with issues of copyright, fairness and the impacts of AI on culture.
Session 1 (AI, creative arts, and the law): Kathy Bowrey (Professor at the UNSW Faculty of Law and Justice), Louise Buckingham (CEO of the Arts Law Centre of Australia), Marie Hadley (Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle Law School).
Session 2 (Corporate scale generative creativity and the public good): Oliver Bown (Professor at UNSW Art & Design), Sue Keay (Director of the UNSW AI Institute), Bhautik Joshi (R&D Group Lead in Multimedia at Canva).
