There’s so much to appreciate when it comes to the history and architecture of our amazing city. Explore the rich past of New Bedford as expressed through art, music, food, and more! It’s all happening this AHA! Night: Preservation. Celebration. on Thursday, May 9th.
We’re delighted that May’s AHA! Night kicks off ArtWeek SouthCoast. Celebrate with us by joining one of AHA! Night’s walking tours, attending the unveiling of the new Places that Matter: New Bedford tool, observing plein-air painting in action, and getting a glimpse into museum archives!
On AHA! Nights, the Elm Street Garage offers free parking. You can also follow the AHA! Yellow flags for activities from participating locations and printable program listings are available at the National Park Visitors Center and the Main Library.

Events include:
- Enjoy a series of guided tours focused on history, preservation, and more!
- Learn about WHALE’s Places that Matter: New Bedford project, which maps the places that deserve protection, activation and celebration in New Bedford
- Watch plein-air painting in action as three local artists create unique works of art inspired by the historic district
- Take a peek into museum archives and learn about the restoration of a vandalized painting
- Stop by museum exhibits, galleries, and shops open late
- Plus, crafts, live sea shanty music, history of hip-hop showcase, and so much more being added to our schedule every day
