The West-MEC Career Academy at Agua Fria will support increasing demand for careers in the trades critical to the region’s continued growth. The academy will offer specialized training and industry certifications through four programs including: · Electrical Trade Specialty: Students will learn to install maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems preparing them for roles in residential and commercial wiring with pathways toward a journeyman’s license.
· Medium/heavy diesel technology: This program trains students to repair and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment with hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical systems used in transportation and construction industries.
· Welding technology: Students will master advanced welding techniques to join and fabricate metal products equipping them to contribute to industries like construction or artistic metalwork.
· Air conditioning technology: Students will learn to install and maintain heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration systems focusing on energy efficiency and climate control in residential and commercial settings.
The Career Academy is open to all students within West-MEC’s boundaries over 3600 square miles in the northern and western parts of the Phoenix Metro area.
