About this Event
Pennsylvania's older adult population is growing rapidly. Currently, one in four Pennsylvanians are over age 60; in less than five years, this number will be one in three. To examine this shift and its impacts, public broadcasting stations WVIA and WITF partnered for a year-long initiative — with support from the PA Department of Aging and AllOne Foundation & Charities — called .
This initiative is aimed at presenting programming to educate and inform about the challenges and opportunities of growing older – and drive discussion in communities. The programming produced through Aging Together in PA reflects the priorities of – the strategic 10-year plan designed to transform the infrastructure of supports for the Commonwealth’s older adults.
In conclusion of this year-long initiative, WITF and WVIA are convening state leaders and experts to discuss how the Commonwealth and community partners are coming together to meet the needs of PA’s rapidly growing older adult population. We’ll look at how we can connect and improve services and supports to build a future where we can all thrive as we age.
The first panel, Designing PA’s Future: An Age-Friendly, Accessible, and Inclusive Commonwealth, will include:
· PA Department of Aging Secretary Jason Kavulich
· Governor Josh Shapiro’s Office of Policy and Planning Secretary Akbar Hossain
· PA Department of Human Services Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh
· PA Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger
The second panel, Caring for the Commonwealth: Workforce, Families, and the Future will include advocates and family caregivers focusing on the growing need for family and professional caregivers.
