About this Event
Will you help us?
LGBT+ people in the county, aged 50 - 100+, are invited to join SAND in some discussions to identify a whole range of questions that may arise for people around particular themes. These will then be collated into a 'Frequently Asked Questions' resource alongside the details of organisations which may be able to help people to find the answers!
Our first theme is Ageing Without Children
One individual said: as I increasingly help older people out with various jobs around the house, complicated transactions, appointments and health care issues, I increasingly wonder who is going to look out for my interests in 20 or 30 years’ time. I am sure there must be other LGBT+ people in the same boat.
We are after some lively discussions which raise lots of questions. Can you help?
What sort of questions are in your head? If you are already older than this and have a load of different thoughts and questions then we’d like to hear those too.
You are welcome to attend just one or more - or all of sessions.
Coming up later in the week - themes on:
- Housing and home
- Well-being
- Money and the Law
- Care and caring
We will also be hosting a couple fo face-to-face coffee mornings
Questions already out there include:
- who is going to look out for my interests in 30 years’ time?
- what are my options if home maintenance starts stressing me out?
- what if I have a temporary health condition which means it is hard for me to cope at home in the short term?
- are there any implications of not being married or in a Civil Partnership?
- how does anyone pay for the care that they need?
