About this Event
Join your Pittsburgh Park Rangers for an age 50+ guided hike series featuring the City of Pittsburgh’s Regional Parks! This hike series will focus on shorter hikes (under 2 miles) for beginner hikers. All hikes will be a slow-to-light pace with few stopping points throughout! Participants are urged to wear closed toe shoes, wear sunscreen, and pack a water bottle for this hike series. Registration is not required but recommended for updates and cancellations due to inclement weather. Registration opens March 1st!
Join Ranger Marya for a guided hike at Mt. Washington Park in Emerald View Park. The hike covers 1.64 miles on a rustic, compacted dirt trail with moderate elevation change. We will go at a slow pace with plenty of stops to enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife, along with insights about the park's history and ecology. Wear closed-toe shoes for safety and bring water to stay hydrated. Parking is available on Norton Street, and a portable toilet is located at the trailhead.
Meet your Ranger: Ranger Marya has been a Pittsburgh Park Ranger since 2022. Prior to her role as a Ranger, she was a stay-at-home mom who engaged in various activities, including becoming a Master Gardener, leading an environmentally focused community group, and participating in the Working Group for what is now Seldom Seen Park. Her background and experiences provided a natural pathway to her position as a Park Ranger.
