In 1926, Caroline Crale is found guilty of the murder of her husband. With a judicial recommendation for mercy, her death-sentence is commuted to life and, three years later, she dies in prison. In 1942, upon reaching 21 years of age, Caroline’s daughter, Carla, is given a letter, written by her mother years before, in which she states that she did not commit the murder.
Against all the evidence, Carla believes in her mother’s innocence and sets out to prove it with the help of the son of the solicitor who defended her mother in court.
But if her mother was innocent, one of the other people in the house that day must be guilty… Someone killed her father and got away scot-free.
