Agatha Christie in the 1920sRemembered today as the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie has famously only been outsold by the Bible and Shakespeare. In this lecture we look back at the first decade of her writing career to complement the years Lauriston Castle was left as an Edwardian time-capsule to the nation. From the publication of The Mysterious Affair at Styles in 1920 to the Murder at the Vicarage in 1930, how her divorce, her disappearance and personal tragedy, affected her writing and creative success.
Anne Grieve is an enthusiast of Golden Age Detective fiction and a member of Edinburgh Living History, based in Lauriston Castle.
All our lecture mornings cost £8 and include a friendly lecture where you can meet our guest lecturer, have coffee and a sweet treat and get a special castle tour. Why not make a day of it at Lauriston and have some lunch at Mimi’s café on-site after your lecture experience?
