Energy Innovators
Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:00-6:00 PM, January 22-May 5, 2025
(No cohort April 7-11, 2025 during Spring Break)
Orientation: January 8, 2025 from 5:00-6:00 PM
Where would we be without energy? Students will investigate energy and its many uses in our world through this cohort experience as they learn about traditional energy sources and explore alternative energies that will help power the future. Throughout the semester, students will explore the environmental and economic costs and benefits of different forms of energy and consider how sustainability could shape our cities of the future!
Some of the guided activities:
- Design a vehicle that operates on alternative energy
- Discover how much energy household items use.
- Explore the connection between the waste we produce and energy!
- Design and test a Wind Turbine
- Design ways to harness the power of the sun’s energy
- Meet a with local experts to learn about ways Grand Rapids is becoming more sustainable!
This program is for students enrolled in the 6th and 7th grades in Spring 2025.
