Our series of free Afternoon Recitals continues with a welcome return from flautist David Edwards and pianist Charles Edmondson.Today's programme, Creating a Song and Dance, presents music for dance from across the world, including pieces by Fauré, Dvorak and Schumann, alongside Cole Porter's Begin the Beguine and Sylvio Ricardo's paso-doble, Alicante.

David Edmonds (Flute) was born and lives in Kendal. He was the principal flute player in the Cumbria Youth Orchestra and in 1994, commenced studies with Clare Southworth at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, from where he graduated.
David was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for two years and in 1994, was a woodwind finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year.
David is a member of several local orchestras and ensembles as well as being accompanist to several local choirs.
Charles Edmondson (Piano) was born in West Yorkshire and in 1957, aged seventeen, became assistant organist at Bradford Cathedral.
A music graduate of the University of Trinity College, Dublin and a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, he embarked on a career in music education, working in Devon, Suffolk, North Yorkshire and Humberside as a teacher, lecturer, adviser and (Ofsted) inspector.
He has given nearly 400 organ recitals in venues throughout Britain including the Cathedrals at Blackburn, Bradford, Carlisle, Bury St Edmunds, Newcastle and Ripon.
Now living in Kendal, he is the organist at St Paul’s Church, Grange over Sands.
